When you stay at “Kohaku-Amber” we recommend you take a leisurely stroll around the ancient city of Kamakura and experience all it has to offer. You can take a 30minute stroll to visit Hase Great Buddha statue. You won’t get the same experience when you move around in buses and taxis.

Adjacent to "Kohaku", this restaurant is a relaxing spot for locals, where you can see the ocean over Route 134. Chef Yamada and his wife's restaurant creates an atmosphere where you feel free to relax over a glass of wine even during lunchtime. The menu offers simple dishes using vegetables from Mrs. Yamada’s parents’ home and fish caught locally. Their lunch set includes pasta or risotto and for an additional 500 yen, you can add on appetizers and coffee or tea. In addition to table seating inside and on the terrace, this restaurant offers counter seating so a party of 1 can enjoy comfortably. Their hospitality and chef’s dishes will have you leaving with a warm feeling.

A public bath established 55 years ago that retains the feel of the Showa era. The 10m high ceiling, spacious baths, and the breeze from the ocean create a comfortable space. Come relax and warm your body after a day of exploring around the ancient city of Kamakura. Please adhere to the rules and manners of bathing.

Katatsumuri -Hiroshima style Okonomiyaki-

3-1-10 Zaimokuza, Kamakura

You’ll be leaving with happy, full bellies!

The Hiroshima-yaki (780 yen), carefully grilled on a large iron plate by the owner, Takashi Tsubakiyama, is a local favorite. “Katatsumuri” had been popular in Zaimokuza for over 30 years until it closed down but Mr. Tsubakiyama, who was an employee at the time, revived it a few years ago. The shop was renovated from a single-family house. You’ll be able to wait for your food inside by the iron plate or outside where they offer seating. In addition to the Hiroshima-yaki, there are a wide variety of alcoholic beverages offered, such as their original cup sake. You can also enjoy the public bath “Shimizuyu” across from the shop. Enjoy a cup of sake and Hiroshima-yaki after your bath and you’re sure to feel like a local.

THE BANK

3-1-1 Yuigahama, Kamakura

Enjoy some cocktails in this retro style bar.

This authentic bar used to be the Yuigahama branch of the Kamakura Bank in 1927, but they had the idea of turning it into a bar. It is known as one of the best bars in Kamakura.

Biotecca Italian Meat House

Meat and Wine. What more could you ask for?

Located in a single-family house near a Hase Great Buddha statue, you’ll be able to unwind in this high-ceiling space. Their known for their charcoal-grilled meat, such as beef, pork, and chicken (Main course 3,300yen). The ingredients for each day are carefully selected by Chef Ohkoda who has a specialty in meat. The charcoal fire leaves the skin crispy and the inside juicy. Enjoy these carefully grilled meat with salt or with a bit of mustard. The wines are selected to match the meat like they do in Italy. This is the place to visit when you’re craving meat!

Femme de Bateau Aoki

1-5-9 Komachi, Kamakura

No better place to enjoy local seafood than here.

Within the busy streets of Komachi, you’ll find a sign of a blue ship that lights up. You’ll be welcomed with their warm wood interior when you enter. Owner and Chef, Sonoko Aoki, is also a local fisherman. She offers special dishes and maintains a friendly atmosphere within the shop. For example, you can enjoy the brown rice risotto using a whole lobster caught by Sonoko for 3,820yen. You can also enjoy both Japanese and Western dishes using various meats and Kamakura vegetables. Engage in conversation with their friendly staff, including Sonoko who is known as the “woman of the ship.”
